This guide will give a quick overview of the Mage configuration portal. Setting up your products will be guided and can be done within minutes:
After you logged in to your Mage Account, you see the overview page. To add your app, click “New App” in the navigation bar and fill out the given form. First, choose on which platforms your app is active. After that, fill in your bundle id, your app name and select a first app store category as well as a second app store category. Finally, choose a test split size and whether your app shall be optimized for each platform individually or synchronized across platforms.
Usually, Mage tests one price per country and app store at a time and uses smart country clustering to apply learnings from one country to another. However, for smaller apps and apps just starting to use Mage, it can be helpful to test different prices in a country at once to speed up the optimization process. This can be set up with the test split size. If selected, Mage will choose a test price per country and will show that to the test group. This will be used to generate new recommendations as well as to validate active recommendations further.
If the option separate prices per platform is enabled, Mage might give you different price recommendations for iOS and android within a country. We recommend enabling that option since it provides more potential for optimization. If disabled, Mage will show the same price on both platforms in a country. Please note that enabling and disabling this option will only affect upcoming recommendations.
After you've submitted by clicking on "Create App", a success message will confirm your newly added app and will show a summary with your API keys for your mobile app as well as your web backend.Â
Mage optimizes prices for your digital goods in groups. Think of a product group as a collection of similar products. Clustering your in-app-products in product groups is crucial to ensure a sophisticated pricing strategy. Price relationships within each group will be kept stable as you don’t want your lifetime membership to become cheaper than your monthly subscription price. This way, Mage’s linked learning is enabled, which makes the value estimation for the same set of products better.
To add new product groups, click “Product Groups” in the navigation bar. Then click “New Product Group”. Select the app to which the product group belongs and name the group. Submit by clicking “Create Product Group”. A success message will confirm your newly added product group, and you will see a summary.
Products represent your current default in-app products, like: com.yourapp.life_time_pro, com.yourapp.monthly_sub_pro, com.yourapp.yearly_sub_pro, com.yourapp.additional_feature_a.
To add new products, click “Products” in the navigation bar, then click “New Product”. Fill out the “New Product” form (figure 4) starting with the name, product group and product type.
Finally, name your current price for that product as well as a minimum price. The minimum price enables you to set strict borders for the operational window of Mage. Submit by pressing “Create Product”. A success message will confirm your newly added product group and will show a summary.
